What is PU leather?

PU leather (polyurethane leather) is a type of synthetic material that imitates the appearance and texture of natural leather. It is used to make a variety of products, including clothing, shoes, bags, furniture, and accessories. A special feature of PU leather is that it is made of polyurethane, a plastic and durable material that can be easily shaped and processed.

The main characteristics of PU leather:

  • Appearance and Texture: PU leather looks and feels very similar to genuine leather. It can have different textural variations, such as smooth, granular, matte, or shiny.
  • Color possibilities: Due to its synthetic origin, PU leather can be dyed in a wide range of colors, including bright and unusual shades.
  • Durability and reliability: PU leather has a long-lasting resistance to wear, scratches, stretching and sunburn, making it a durable material.
  • Cost: One of the advantages of PU leather is its more affordable cost compared to genuine leather, making it a popular choice for products that imitate genuine leather.
  • Environmental friendliness: The production of PU leather can be less burdensome on the environment compared to the production of genuine leather.

Useful information about purchasing a chair or table

For those who are planning or have just purchased a chair/table:

If possible, try to test the table/chair before making a purchase. The weight and height of the user recommended by the manufacturer should be taken into consideration. Also, if the manufacturer indicates a recommended height of 185 cm and you are above or below this height, this does not mean that you will be uncomfortable.

Important: weight restrictions should not be neglected, this can significantly shorten the life of the chair or even break it.

Also, keep in mind that the box the chair or table ship in is quite large and heavy. Plan in advance for their transportation.

The set with the chair/table has everything you need to assemble it, but you can also use your own tool if it’s more convenient for you. When assembling, follow the instructions in the manual contained in the box.

The seat of the chair does not rise/lower

What to do if the height of the seat is not adjustable?

The seat height adjustment lever/knob is located to the right of the user sitting in the chair. The principle of operation – you turn the handle, the lever in the mechanism housing is lowered to the gas lift button. After pressing the button, the gas lift raises (if there is no load on the chair) or lowers the seat (if you are sitting on the seat). If you turn the handle and the height does not adjust, try the following:

  • Make a little more effort when scrolling the pen, maybe you don’t scroll all the way;
  • Check whether the protective cap remains on the gas lift. Sometimes, gas lifts have a special protective cap for transportation. If it was not removed at the factory, you must do it. It is desirable, of course, to do this before assembling the chair. But, if it happened that the chair was assembled with this cap, there are several methods of solving the problem:
    1. try to disassemble the lower part of the chair, remove the gas lift and remove the cap from it;
    2. if it was not possible to disassemble the chair, carefully lift the plastic panel from the seat mechanism (as in the photo below) and remove the cap (in the photo, the red cap). For convenience, the cap can be slightly cut, you will not need it in any case.

  • Important: there is a gas lift button under the cap, which should not be damaged. Remove the cap carefully.

Operation and care of your chair

Some tips on how to care for the chair

In order to extend the service life of your chair and have the best possible experience, try following our simple rules of operation and maintenance listed below:

Usage:

  1. Prevent increased loads on the mechanisms, do not allow two people to sit on the same seat, do not use the seat to hold heavy boxes, etc.
  2. Prevent the chair from being used for purposes other than intended, such as rolling, sitting on the armrests, or placing your feet on the seat.
  3. We do not recommend putting loads on it when adjusting the angle of the backrest; do not deviate or adjust the angle in an unnatural way when leaning back.
  4. Regularly carry out diagnostics on the mechanisms, once every six months check the condition of the fastening elements, moving parts, built-in mechanisms and tighten the fastening bolts, if necessary.
  5. Operate the chair in stable temperature conditions: avoid sharp temperature drops, high humidity, sunlight hitting the upholstery, etc.
  6. Avoid contact with bare skin. Sweat contains salt, the chair’s lining material will absorb this salt. As a result, it will begin to harden, lose its original appearance, and even break down (especially with regard to PU leather).

Here are some tips on how to care for PU leather:

  1. Daily cleaning: For daily maintenance, simply wipe the PU leather surface with a soft dry cloth or microfiber to remove dust and dirt.
  2. Stain removal: If stains appear on the PU leather, you can use a damp cloth or microfibre, slightly moistened in running water. Carefully wipe the stain, avoid using aggressive detergents.
  3. Detergents: If a deeper cleaning is required, a special PU leather cleaner can be used. Before use, check that it is suitable for your particular type of PU leather, as some cleaners may be too harsh.
  4. Sun protection: Avoid bending the PU leather in strong sunlight for an extended period, as this may cause burning and damage to the material.
  5. Avoid friction and scratches: Avoid contact with sharp and rough objects that may cause scratches or damage to the PU leather surface.
  6. Storage: Store PU leather products in a dry and cool place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  7. Protection against liquids: Avoid contact with liquids as they may stain or damage the material. Try to minimize the contact area of the chair with exposed areas of your skin. Prolonged exposure to sweat on PU leather significantly shortens its service life and leads to destruction.
  8. Care products: There are special PU leather care products, such as sprays or creams, that help keep the material in good condition. It is important to only use the means recommended by the manufacturer.

Regarding seats with fabric upholstery:

  1. Daily cleaning: Regularly wipe the surface of the fabric with a soft dry cloth or microfibre to remove dust, dirt, and small particles.
  2. Stain removal: If stains appear on the fabric, act as soon as possible. Use a soft cloth slightly dampened in cold water or a special fabric stain remover. Stains should be removed while they are fresh.
  3. Sun protection: Avoid long-term accidental exposure to strong sunlight on the fabric as this can cause burning and diminish the fabric’s color.
  4. Vacuum: Use a vacuum regularly with a fabric attachment to remove more dust and dirt.
  5. Stubborn stains: If stubborn stains have made their way into the fabric, try using a special fabric stain remover or have it professionally dry cleaned.
  6. Keep an eye on pets. One of the most common causes of furniture damage is pets. Try to teach them not to harm the chair or direct their interest to other objects designed for chewing, scratching, and drooling. 🐶 🐱

❗️It is always recommended to check the manufacturer’s instructions or label directions before using any care products on your chair.
